Sandras report only a few brant when we arrived but many small groups came in from deeper water and from the south ... cronking their way along ...most enjoyable. All headed for the beach near the west end of Seacrest where several hundred gulls and many wigeon were feeding on what is likely herring spawn washed up on rocks ... the waters were ‘washed out’ but still a lovely pale blue tone when the sun was showing. A bit of a frenzy sometimes with gulls and eagles in the mix, tens of bufflehead, some pintails and mallard too. When we left about 250+ brant plus some that already headed up-island by then ... my estimate for the central area today was 320+ brant.
